  • FOI Legislation

The Freedom of Information Act 2014 came into effect on 14 October 2014 repealing the 1997 and 2003 Acts. The new Act introduced a number of changes, including a change to the fee structure and widening the number of public bodies to which FOI applies.

The FOI Act can be accessed on the Oireachtas website.

There are a number of regulations and orders made under this Act. A list of these and the links to access them are available on the Central Policy Unit website.

The new Act introduced a Code of Practice. This and the guidance notes can also be found on the Central Policy Unit website.
